Retake A levels

Hi, I'm 20 and I am thinking about retaking a levels as I have decided to go to uni and study economics. The university I will be applying for has very high entry requirements a* in maths and 2 additional A's.
Due to my age I am not sure where to start , how to find a college and how to apply.
I'm from Surrey so I am looking for something local.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also, how much would it cost me, the studying?
thanks
I don't really know, but perhaps you could go to the college you were previously at ? And maybe look at courses that would have lower entry requirements as an alternative, but don't rule anything out at this stage

can't go back to my old school. it's for 16-19 year olds i think.
What about self teaching, would it be possible to get a* in maths if it's self taught? I am very motivated.
maths is easiest subject to self teach just learn from example questions and do loads of past papers i self taught s1-s6 its piss easy!

If you are self teaching then you have to book your examsat a centre which accepts private candidates. Edexcel private candidate info http://www.edexcel.com/i-am-a/student/private-candidates/faqs/Pages/Finding_centre.aspx andAQA info http://store.aqa.org.uk/admin/library/AQA-PRIVCAND-CENTRES.PDF andhttp://www.aqa.org.uk/student-support/private-candidates.

If any of your qualifications require coursework you willneed to book either the same centre or another centre to supervise this (findinga centre for coursework may be harder than finding one for exams). If you areunsuccessful finding a private candidate centre for your exams or courseworkfrom the lists provided than try ringing other local schools and collegesin your area as not all participating centres will be listed.
It would also be beneficial to use a distance learningprovider such as ICS or the Oxford college to help with tuition, courseworkmarking and queries regarding the structure of the course. I would alsoconsider using a private tutor as well for face to face assistance.

If you are taking edexcel maths I would recommend these books http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=edexcel%20a%20level%20maths#/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=edexcel+a+level+maths+pledger&sprefix=edexcel+a+level+maths+c%2Caps%2C190&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aedexcel+a+level+maths+pledger.

Self study for 3 A levels with a target of A*AA will be very challenging (unless you have already studied them before and are just looking to improve existing grades).
Maths is probably the most straightforward for self teaching, if you have the work ethic, motivation and aptitude.

While most school sixth forms won't accept candidates older that 19, most FE colleges and some sixth form colleges will.
As you already have completed A level study and are over 19 there should be fees to pay, these may depend on your current financial status so you should discuss that with the colleges.
A quick google search will give you links to places you can contact to discuss entry for 2013/14. E.g.

most colleges that are 16-19 do also accept people a little older, or allow you to start at 19 and then continue until you have your full qualification.

I will be returning to my college next year and as a guideline they charge £300 per A-Level, per year.
Many colleges charge a similar amount as the guideline is given from the government.

So if you were to study 4 AS's in the first year and 3 full A-Levels, thi would be about £2100, some colleges include all equipment needed for the course, like textbooks and revision guides, but some dont.

Although it may sound like a lot if you havent got much, but some places may have some financial help for older students, or a way of paying by instalments, you should just ask the places you are thinking of going to

Hope this helps, good luck with whatever you do
