http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/medicine/prospective_ug/applying/howtoapply

It's here, on the right hand side column: Downloads - Admissions Policy

http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/polopoly_fs/1.198034!/file/ADMISSIONSPOLICY_public.pdf

I'm really confused as well, it's only mentioned there not anywhere else, maybe email admission for a definite answer?

I'm going to ring them up as they never reply to the bloody emails.
Anyone know the number of applicants-per-place and applicants-per-offer for medicine at Sheffield in the admissions cycle just gone?

Around 3000 applicants
600 interviews
400 offers
Just over 200 places
5A*'s 5A's and a B in maths at GCSE. With say 645 UKCAT score.
Could I get in?
Does anyone know if Sheffield still looks at gcse for graduates?

Hello, I'm slightly concerned about the UKCAT. I'm aware that their admission policy says scores above 600 will be considered but their 'entry requirement and UKCAT' section states "It is likely that any candidate with a score of 2600 or above will be given consideration" (650 average). If anyone could shed some light on this, that would be great.
Thanks

They said 650 at the open day. The admissions policy probably hasn't been updated. I'd email their admissions office, although they're notoriously bad at answering them so maybe a phone call would get a speedier answer

I had a feeling the policy may be outdated; I will get in touch with them and clarify. My score was 640 so I'm worried I may have just missed the cut!

By saying that, does Sheffield mean that you just have to meet the score of 650 and then they will not look at UKCAT scores after that?

Hi

GSCE 10 x A* and 2 x A* SHORT COURSE
AS AAAB
A2 predicted AAA or A*AA
UKCAT VR 470 QR 630 AR 740 DA 900 SJT 2 AV 685

so long as WE and EC (which they are) and PS are ok/good will the UKCAT be enough to get me in??

Hey, what are my chances of getting into this uni, i really want to go to sheffield!

top 9 gcse`s: 4A*s, 4As and a B inc English lang (B), Maths (A*) triple award science (A*A*A)

all gcse`s : 4 A*s, 4As 2Bs 2 Cs

AS Results: A(90%)A (90%) and a high B, Maths, Chemistry and Biology respectively
Taking an extra AS (economics) during year 13 (currently)

A2 predictions A*AA (b for economics) or AAA(b)

UKCAT 702.5 average, 530 in VR, 720 in AR, 810 in DA, 750 Qant and Band 1

My personal statement is really good and has been complimented but still I need to cut out 300 characters so hopefully cutting out stuff doesnt make it worse

Do i have a good chance with sheffield? If not any other uni`s i should consider or avoid? im also considering leeds, Leicester and Manchester

You're GCSEs are decent and your UKCAT is well above the cutoff. Sheffield do place a large emphasis on the personal statement, so if you have a very good one like you said, it is likely you will get an interview..

Thank you! Boosted my confidence a bit  I will hopefully he applying, its a uni I'd definitely consider my first choice/leeds

This year's ukcat scores have been very high though! Do they look at achieved AS results? I only have 3 and don't want to be at a disadvantage because Mu fourth one will only be a prediction :frown:

Sheffield do say they expect applicants to achieve a minimum of ABBB at AS, but if I were you, I would just make sure your case is fine since you are predicted a B and you've already achieved AAB; I don't see why it shouldn't be fine really, but just check up with them to make sure.
