Is the foundation year of clinical science/medicine worth to do if I want to go into medicine? Has anyone been in that route and got them successfully in?
Hey there, thanks for posting a question in the Medicine forum.
The Medicine forum gets a high volume of questions being posted, and some of these are already answered by the resources and Megathreads that members of the community and volunteers have created. This is an automatic post which is designed to highlight these resources. Below is a list of threads and articles that could answer your question (you should be looking in the original post of the megathreads). If one of the below threads is a more relevant place to ask your question, please post a reply in that thread to ask your question. If your query is answered by one of the Megathreads or articles linked below, and you would like us to close this thread for you, please reply to this thread with just the words "thank you". This foundation year does have a route onto medicine at Sheffield medical school. When you complete the first year, you can join Sheffield University provided also you meet their widening participation criteria and achieve 70% in the foundation year.
We have an established partnership with Sheffield Medical School so that Foundation in Clinical Sciences and Medicine leading to BSc Clinical Sciences provides a formal opportunity for widening participation students to apply to enter the MBChB at Sheffield (subject to meeting academic, widening participation, UCAT and passing the Multiple Mini Interview criteria - please see Sheffield Medical School's website for further details).
If you'd like any more information please do PM us and I can put you in contact with the course academic who will be able to provide lots more useful info
Good luck with whatever decision you decide to make!
