Oh yeah - that's literally breaking news - no other site has it. So, they're still trying to attack Israel - but thankfully failed.

OOC/IC - what idiots.
That would be funny if it wasn't rockets.

Hezbollah maintains that it will continue attacks on Israeli troops on Lebanese soil.

Fantastic cease-fire.

The Israeli troops in Lebanon have ceasefired...but no, Hezbollah are apparently above such things.

No, AFAIK the Israeli troops will continue fighting any pockets they bump into, they just wont actively seek them out and theyll stop the whole flattening of towns and civilians. I think the main point is that Hezbollah have stopped firing rockets into Haifa, who knows for how long, but theyve stopped.

OOC: I wouldnt put it past them to amass all their arsenal, wait until Haifa returns to normality and then start pounding when they least expect it, its the kind of tactic they would employ. However this would also give Israel a free pass to run riot, so meh, who knows.

Hungary would like to commend Israel for not retailiating to rockets that Hizbullah fired into south Lebanon, which were (apparently) intended for Isreal (but didn't quite make it). There restraint has hopefully prevented futher mass blood shed.

OOC: Hizbullah are a set of antagonists, who are flexing their muscles in the face on the UN... but as someone already pointed out, instigating attacks with Israel, will simply give Israel another excuse to engaging a full on offensive against Hizbullah and the country of Lebanon, bringing more death and more destuction. At the end of the day, do Hizbullah want to give one of the most powerful armies in the world this exuse? Especially, if their true concern is the people of Lebanon...???!!

Even though they're actually leaving to return back to Israel? They're waiting until the Lebanese army gets there before making a complete withdrawal. That was agreed under the ceasefire, yet Hezbollah still feel that they are too special to abide by it completely. Typical.
Wait a minute. The IDF is withdrawing to let the Lebanese army take over the job?

Together with a multinational force, yes.
The Bhutan was under the impression that they were only going to pull out WHEN the multinational force got there. Which it hasnt, yet.

The Bhutan is correct which is why the Israeli troops have only started to withdraw.
Right.
What does Israel feel it has accomplished in the last month?

Syria suggests that perhaps Irael will come to respect diplomatic solutions and not pre-emptive war - which could only have served to displace and destroy lives of thousands of Lebanese people.

We have destroyed long range missiles and various Hezbollah targets. We feel as though we have shown Hezbollah that we are not an easy target and that they can not and will not defeat us. We do not, however, feel our mission is over until Lebanon succeeds in dismantling Hezbollah and taking control of Southern Lebanon to prevent Hezbollah doing so. This war has therefore emphasised and drawn attention to the world the need for Hezbollah's dismantlement and as a consequence, multinational troops are being deployed there. This, we feel, is an accomplishment on its own as it protects the citizens in Northern Israel from possible future rockets.

Not at all. We do not regret the actions we have taken because without our fight, we would have been seen as not only an easy target, but foolish and selfish to our citizens. They deserved protection on our borders and they got it. We don't just need to prove to the world that we are strong and capable but to our people.

But it is laughable that Syria is the one suggesting diplomatic "solutions" since Syria herself has been assisting Hezbollah in rocket attacks against Israel. How ironic. Israel rejects Syria's suggestions and suggests that they stop looking for trouble, or they sure enough will get it.

Australia can only say that we are glad that the ceasefire has relatively holded this far. Minimal skirmishes/violations that have occurred thus far are only to be expected, but we are glad that Hezbollah and the IDF have by and large honoured the cease-fire pact. We look forward to long-term peace in the Middle East.

Regarding our deployment to the UNIFIL mission, the Australian government is still deciding on our commitment, if any. If we do decide to contribute, it would be a very small number in the form of a niche contribution, as we have other priorities elsewhere, like in East Timor.

We would also like to express our gratitude at France and Italy for, in all likelihood, taking up the positions of UNIFIL Commander and Vice Commander respectively due to the size of their peacekeeping missions.

OOC: They'd surely fail under brimstone's leadership though. :p:

Acting the victim hardly befits a nation persistent in hegemony, aggression, expansionism, and contravention of Human Rights and International Law.

The UK is encouraged by the immense support demonstrated by the global community, as indicated by their willingness to deploy peacekeeping troops into the troubled region. We note that this peacekeeping force will likely be led by France and assisted by Italy (both of which will be making the greatest contributions to the 15,000-strong force), and throw our full support behind their leadership.
