International / Humanitarian Law

I'm considering doing a masters in international law/ humanitarian law/ international security. Time is on my side but I need to be making the right choice so I'm thinking of starting with some reading.

My undergrad is in politics and I've done some volunteering with the Red Cross and Amnesty so I have a reasonable starting knowledge but not so law specific. Any recommended textbooks/reading to get me started? No journal articles since I'm no longer a student so access would be a pain. Perhaps a core textbook used in an undergrad course? Just something to give me a starting point to explore from.

I'm open to any other suggestions people happen to have on making up my mind.
