Psychology Professors at Notts - what are they like?

Hey Everyone!

I'm a prospective psychology student, have an AAB offer woop!

I visited the uni on an open day and I did really like it and I am swayed towards putting it as my first choice, but need to visit two other unis first.

I'm hoping for some current students to help me out here. What are the professors on the psychology course actually like? Are they friendly or stand offish? And are they more interested in their own research or are they keen to help out the students?

Any opinions would be a great help, thank you!

I've always found them to be pretty helpful and always willing to help students, especially struggling first years who're a bit overwhelmed. Yeah, they have their own specialist departments but that doesn't mean they're useless with others; for instance, in the first year, you submit 4 essays to your tutor - biological, cognitive, social and developmental psychology. My tutor (his name is Richard Tunney, he'll be teaching you some cognitive psych if you come here this year!) specialises in cognitive, but he's given me feedback for all the essays I've submitted to him so far, which includes social and developmental.

A few of the professors are reaaaaaaaallly boring and dry, gonna be honest :/ however, there are some truly awesome ones, such as the stats professor - he's one of the coolest Frenchmen I've ever met  I can't really fault the teachers at Nottingham at all.

Cool, thanks for letting me know your experiences! I guess there are always some dull ones, but if you can't fault the teachers it must be good
