Muslims: What is your political party of choice

Hey,

So before anyone thinks why am I specifically targeting Muslims for my own person sake, I'm not, I'm just interested to see who Muslim people feel best represent there needs in this country.

I know some are going to say, why aren't you asking the Christians, Jews, Sikhs or whatever, but I'm just interested to see from a Muslim perspective of how our country should be run, and what party they believe is appropriate for it

It may be a good idea to make the poll results public, just so non-muslim users can't try and be sneaky and manipulate it. P: Which would of course be a gross waste of time... but some people on TSR seem to have a lot of time to waste when it comes to topics on religion.

Can I ask why you'd vote for Conservatives?

If I vote I'd vote Labour because they're "the lesser of the two evils". Based on ideology my vote could go to Lib Dems, but let's face it they're not really going to get anything done and anyway they're not going to get a majority any time soon.

Your question assumes Muslims choose their vote based on religious relevance and not on matters other groups care about such as the economy or politics in general.

Personally I would go for Conservatives over Labour like my family usually do for obvious reasons; not reasons associated with faith.

Fair enough, however many of my muslim friends and family then to say they need people who'll help them represent them, I mean correct me if I am wrong, but didn't many Labour votes swift away from Labour because of there decision to go to war with Iraq, I can only go by my example, but many muslims I know to them Islam is an important thing, and many want it to be able to correspond with the countries general politics if that makes sense, e.g allowing a huge freedom of movement, parties/councils that'll guarentee more mosques etc, I can only go by my own experience.

I couldn't care less about the politics, but my parents are all for labour and make me vote for them too even though I honestly don't care about politics tbh.

More so the economic benefits. Labour takes the Keynsian approach of spend, spend, spend and tax the rich for everything they've got and let the next government deal with the deficits. I don't find that a sustainable approach, as a government they should be acting in the countries long-term interests. I'm all for lower taxes (especially for the rich) and increased privatisation. This is because it should add to efficiency improvements, job creation and also it will reward those who work hard. I think with Labour, people in this country are made to feel as though they are entitled to a "very good" (if I must say) standard of living for doing nothing and then get sucked into the poverty trap. I believe the conservatives just have a stronger economic plan in aims to support future generations.

You're ok with them not giving a damn about the poor, ill, disabled, them making it harder to get an education etc etc? Not very Islamic...

I'm not saying Labour are my chosen party, they've messed up too but not as much as the Tories are destroying the country imo.
I'm the only Muslim voting for the Green Party. LOL

Making it harder to get an education? the disabled? Benefits are still in place for these people. I believe people should be rewarded for what they do. This whole benefit system is a complete sham, in my opinion. There are enough people who fail to educate themselves and then complain when they can't find work. I think they're a total waste to society and just leech of the tax payers money. I support the conservatives in that they're more Laissez-faire and they acknowledge private sector benefits. None of the parties are particularly Islamic. I'm no socialist, and would deem myself quite capitalist in that to get somewhere in life you have to work hard and spot the opportunities.

LMAO. Can I ask why?

The green party are a complete shambles and a joke to modern day politics. Do they even have any economic reforms?

Isn't one of their policies to try and create jobs by using renewable energy, as if production costs won't increase by 200%. That party is living in a dream land.

Why are you voting for them?

9k fees?
Destroying the NHS, forcing the disabled to work or get taken off benefits. Of course none are Islamic but Tories are further away from some Islamic principles than others. To put it into perspective Umar (ra) was the first to give "child benefits", to help the elderly etc. The zakat is supposed to be used to help society as whole- the weakest in society. Tories couldn't give a damn about the weakest.
