I often get To Dear... from my nan, might just be because she's old though. Dear dear...thats just weird.
If someone said "dear dear" to me, I'd assume they were disappointed. :s:

It means to that person, u're just so adorable that they think ur whole name is really "Dear xxx". How sweet is that when someone actually thinks ur 1st name is "Dear"! Well, what an educated guess!

I think it is probably gramatically incorect because origonally in letter writing was it not:

"To my dearest name" or, "My dearest name"

but

what i think they meant was:

"Dear" (as in a substitute for "To") , then, "dear" (as in "an adjective to mean a person they are fond of") then the name.

Basically they like you, your special to them, mean a lot to them...

If it were "dear, dear" in the text it would be as in "dear, oh dear" - i despair typa thing.

Does that make sense?
