What can I honestly do with English (lit and lang), History and Product Design?

I have just finished my exams, I haven't applied for university this year because I still have no idea what career I'm interested in. I seriously need help because I'm struggling for inspiration.
Any suggestions of jobs or uni courses would be highly appreciated!

Hi, I can only speak for English Literature because it's the subject that I'll be continuing with at university later on this year. To be honest, I have no idea what career I want, but all I know is that I enjoy doing English, and see a future where I am in a position to be able to continue that passion is good enough for me. But for what it's worth, I know that it opens opportunities like public relations, journalism, teaching, law and so on.

A lot of people will tell you different. For example, some will encourage you to take on a subject or area which you enjoy, and others will tell you to specialise in an area which will increase your likelihood of getting a job afterwards. But it doesn't matter what people say because the choice is yours.

I would perhaps advise you to visit Open Days if you haven't already. Don't just go to one subject's presentation, but possibly a variety and see what they have to offer. Perhaps talk about it with your family, friends and teachers to see what they think too. Especially teachers who have done the degrees which you are interested in and see what they have to say about them.

I know how it feels to be kind of panicky, and I feel like October/November last year where I was filling out my UCAS form, I felt desperate to just do any degree. Even now with university a few months away, I don't think that I'm doing a degree because I want to, but more because I know that having one is almost expected.

I can only wish you the best in your decisions, and I hope you find something which you will enjoy and make you happy. I feel like this is the beginning of the period of time where we often feel lost, but I think it's true to state that while it is scary, it is most certainly exciting.

Good luck and take care!
