What is the first year of uni for a psychology student like?

I will be going to uni this September so I just wanted to know what the first year would be like. Is it hard? Is there a lot of workload? How different is it in comparison to A-Levels? Are the lecturers nice? Are the lectures/seminars boring? etc.
And is there any advice on how to do well in the first year?
