Early Clearing/Adjustment Vacancy Lists 2014 entry

Every year some universities publish their vacancies online before the official listings come from UCAS.

Last year I pulled together the links to them all in this thread.

Given that Scottish results come out tomorrow I thought it would be worth starting early this year.

Cambridge No adjustment or clearing spaces

Oxford Also not in adjustment
UCL Limited adjustment No clearing.

--------------------------------------------------------
Universities to treat with caution in Clearing

Durham: last year they messed clearing applicants around holding on to applicants for weeks before rejecting many of them (after all other clearing places were gone). Unless they can give you SOLID reassurance that they will accept you through clearing I would recommend avoiding them completely.

Lancaster reportedly messed around a TSR user last year. Be sure to get names and job titles and confirmation of offers in writing.

Private universities/private colleges: these universities may well make you ineligible for student loans or may charge fees in excess of the amount of loan you can get to cover tuition fees. If they offer the course you want in the environment you want the go for it - but be sure to check the small print on their fees and funding before you commit to a place.

quick guide to Clearing

If you spot any lists of courses in Clearing then please link them below and I'll add them to the list - note I am NOT including any links to pages to "register" or "make a query" or with promises of when lists will be available.

Likewise if you come across a website of a university stating explicitly that they will not have vacancies in clearing/adjustment then link that too.

Awesome  We'll note this thread in our current article Guide to SQA Clearing: Guide to Scottish Clearing
Just trawled through and added in those listings for all UK universities that I can find.

here we go again

Thanks for the links I'll edit them in.

Adding these

I'm being fussy on the "lists will be available/probably everything in clearing" pages - last year some unis didn't post lists when they said and a "probably" isn't good enough:p:

Fair enough - I was more listing those as ones for you to make a note of and check back on the appropriate date, rather than to add immediately

I'm not a Bristol admissions tutor, so I'm not exactly well placed to comment, but I doubt it.

Bristol usually state outright that they wont be in Clearing. The fact that they're advertising at all is newsworthy.
There will be more right? I'm hoping to move through adjustment
so is it only clearing which isnt available until 5pm on results day? is adjustment available from 9am?

Both clearing and adjustment are open in that you can contact universities from around 7/8am on results day.

HOWEVER Track doesn't get turned back to fully functional until 5pm. So you can get a lot of verbal offers over the phone during the day but you can't pick a clearing choice until 5pm.

Similarly the Adjustment button doesn't usually appear until around lunchtime - with Adjustment though once you press the button and speak to a university you need to be very clear about what you want. It is possible for any university you speak to to "fish" you out of adjustment.

Yes, there will  Full clearing lists will be released at 00:01 on results day.

However, it's worth noting that whilst all clearing vacancies are available to adjustment applicants, some universities will have unlisted spaces for adjustment applicants only, so it can be worth ringing up a few unis that you're uberinterested in, even if they haven't listed your course in adjustment.

Can you get into clearing with lower grades than the entry requirements? Say they were originally asking AAA and you have AAC?
Is it worth pointing out that some Universities also have some "early Clearing" places for those that might already have their results? (mature students, those that had a gap year, resitters etc) Uni of Reading for example...

http://www.reading.ac.uk/clearing/

and the exact extract below from their site...

"Early Clearing is now open at the University of Reading with a small number of places available for UK, EU and international applicants on many of our undergraduate programmes for 2014 entry. We can now consider an application for Early Clearing if you have already received all your results and:

You have not been accepted at your first (firm) and second (insurance) choice universities,

or, you have not yet received any offers for a place at a university,

or, you have not yet applied for university but would like to join the University of Reading in September this year"
