There are a lot of hopeless formations being posted in here. United's main problem is that the wings arent being utilised, yet people want to play a formation with no wingers just so Mata, Rooney and RVP can all play. We had this discussion back when it was Kagawa instead of Mata: you can't play all three and have two wingers as well. The only way you can do that is the 3-4-1-2 United have been playing, but I still don't see that working out as then you only have one wide player on each side (a wingback as opposed to a fullback and winger).

There's a reason that all the best teams are playing 4-3-3/4-2-3-1, and that's because it works. United just need to get some decent wingers, drop Rooney or RVP, and get one of those formations on. If you can actually pose an attacking threat then it can compensate for the various other issues in the team somewhat. Spunking a load of money on Di Maria, far more than he's worth, is probably necessary tbh. But that's what happens if you leave it until the last few weeks, all the good deals are gone.

Exactly.

One of Rooney or RVP should be dropped, Rooney personally for the system, unless they get goalscoring wingers as Rooney is almost like a false 9 at times as he drops deep. Although they could just revert to 4-4-2 and have a beast CM and one good winger to play with Mata, It worked for Atlético Madrid anyway. Koke didn't work hard before hand but it was coached into him by Simeone, same can be done for Mata and the other winger would have a good work rate supposedly(e.g. ADM)

Then get a good ball winning CM as Fletcher is past it(although that was clearly speaking the obvious). Rooney drops deep anyway and a CB. United are lacking in first 11 strength bar 2/3 world class forwards and the depth ain't great either.

repped for effort.

Thanks :biggrin:

This infatuation with having to fit RVP, Rooney and Mata in the starting XI is ruining the team. We should buy the required players, adopt a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 and drop one of RVP or Rooney for the greater good of the team

What required players?

Unless you think we are going to suddenly buy two top tier wide players in the next week, those four simply fit into the team, thats just that.

Januzaj is arguably better than Rooney on the wing, so only 1 top wide player is required.

I think we all share that opinion. 4-3-3 is LVG's preferred formation. My favourite formation is a 4-4-1-1. It has everything.

If Kagawa would have progressed like we expected him to, we could have avoided wasting £37m on Mata. He has created huge problems - he's a better CAM than Rooney. We could have spent that £37m on a top CM and then bought a top LW for £30-45m.

In all my proposed tactics/formations in this thread, I've always been open to benching RVP. He's a specialist. If I was the manager, RVP would most likely start on the bench.
Kagawa was never played...

It's not about progression. Moyes panicked and bought Mata who he didn't need.

I'd get Di Maria in and utilise Januzaj more

I don't see why him being over payed affects people so much tbh.

Not only are his displays not quite equal to his wages but his attitude towards the club has always been poor. I think more specifically the fact he essentialy demaned 300k a week or he was off to Chelsea in a time when the club was on the verge of struggling.
Rob Dawson of Manchester Evening News:
"Spoken to Daley Blind's camp today and they insist they haven't had any contact with Man United. Still time, but nothing yet."

This is the type of stuff that annoys me. Blind is a quality player who's available at a reasonable price and is clearly someone we NEED, yet, we haven't even approaced Ajax about him.
I don't understand what Woodward's game is. What is he doing?

If there's been no contact with Blind at all, then that's down to LvG, not Woodward. If vG wanted him, there would have been some sort of contact by now.

LVG is being ridiculous as well. Why doesn't he want him? It can't be that he doesn't rate him otherwise why was he a starter in the World Cup? Kroos was another one. We could have got him but LVG refused. Fabregas as well. And I have no idea why we're not going for Khedira. Apparently LVG isn't keen on Vidal anyway because of his knee so why not go for Khedira?
Our transfer business absolutely baffles me.
Atletico's president is quoted as saying that it is impossible to get Reus as Man Utd offered him a lot of monies and he still didn't leave.

It's a shame, he's got great English skillz

I agree that Kagawa should have played more under Moyes (based on what he did at Dortmund/1st season under SAF). However, he hasn't done enough (under Moyes) when he has been given game time. I understand that a player requires a string of games to build form, which you could argue he hasn't had.

2012-13;

Apps; 23
Goals; 6
Assists; 5

2013-14;

Apps; 26
Goals; 0
Assists; 2

Mata in 2013-14 (United);

Apps; 15
Goals; 6
Assists; 4

Fact is, Kagawa was **** under Moyes and therefore Moyes panicked. They're both to blame.

Kroos chose RM over us and Cesc chose Chelsea/CL football/his partner in London over us and Edy blamed it on LVG. Players prefer other clubs to us now.

Even the one in the blue dress (that's on now) is fine.

Respect to whoever is employing these beautiful women on SSN.

It's even better now that they have to get up and walk around; whereas before they was just sat behind a huge desk.

All of the women are decent looking. They only seem to employee lookers. I think the weather girl is hot as hell as well. She's mostly on Sky News, but they show her on SSN occasionally.

Di Stewart's another ex-presenter that is hot.

I've never been that keen on her, but I see the appeal.
