I've been there for year now doing psychology and as for my course it is predominately white however that is mainly due to the fact that the North East in general is less ethnically diverse. I think diversity varies course to course but I think it's near impossibly to be the only black guy on your course.
I noticed a lot of ethnicity based societies (as well as loads more!) last year so make sure you get down to the societies fair on Wednesday 17th September at the Students Union. Top tip: Bring lots of pound coins as it's usually £3 membership.

I have a friend taking law and she says the ethnicities are quite varied on her course.

With Freshers it all depends what you like but this year looks quite varied. Tbh, even if you don't buy a freshers pass I wouldn't worried because Northumbria isn't a university where the only place to drink is the union. I don't know anyone who spends their whole night there as Newcastle City Centre has SO MANY bars, pubs, clubs, live music venues, etc.

Here's the best place to find freshers events:

haha, sound like my sort of place! My friends have told me , newcastle is amazing. My only problem is that, i am actually a transfer stduent coming tot he uni for 3rd year. I am just worried that i am going to find it hard to meet and make friends as it will probably be a bit too late as everyone will probably have their own groups etc

Pretty sure you pick it up at the student union desk. It's there as soon as you walk into the union, can't miss it!

The societies I'd just go to the societies fair and see what you fancy. Bring plenty £1 coins as sign up to most of them is £3.
