Strategy in house as opposed to at a consultancy firm

For example something like ; http://jobs.sky.com/starting-out/graduate-opportunities/business-programmes/strategy

Does anyone know anyone who has worked on any schemes like that and their opinions on it? Or indeed of any schemes like that. The only two I have found are that Sky one and Network Rail.

Guessing the main differences would obviously be a lack of variety in the type of projects?

Well what this comes down to is the difference between consultancy and industry. Not to state the obvious, but either you want to work with a wide variety of clients on projects or you want to get in-depth on a single company full time. Bear in mind strategy consulting is very difficult to break into.
I've worked in both external and in-house consulting, but the program you link to is neither. It's just a trainee scheme with the strategy department of a large company - which might or might not be the right thing for you.

External and even in-house consulting is more varied the way that you will work with more diverse clients on a broader range of topics. Honestly, I can recommend my route, has the steepest learning (and salary) curve: external => internal => strategy department. Do your Masters after the external time, it'll feel like vacation, you'll actually enjoy studying again, and you'll have the money for it.
