Ill for first lectures

Hey, basically I think I have developed a chest infection over the course of freshers. Lectures started on Monday and I haven't been to a single one yet because I just don't have the energy to get out of bed.

I really don't want to get a reputation as a slacker, but at the same time I don't want to wear myself down even more (lectures are about 25 mins away) and infect others. I get the feeling this is more than freshers flu, which I'm worried people will put it down to and I'll be told to man up.

Does anyone know what I should do in this situation, some people suggested going home for the week and then emailing my personal tutor. Do you think they would accept this, and would I miss vital info?
Email your lecturers and personal tutors to let them know that you're ill and can't attend this week.

If you have a learning service like Moodle or Blackboard then use them to catch up and say that you will in your email.

The first lectures are generally introductions to the module.
