^^ Yeah you often have to ring to tell them you have received it before they will activate it. Just give them a quick ring!

Normally you need to get in touch with your bank when you receive a card from them to activate it.

This may also seem a bit silly, so apologies if you know this already and I'm barking down the wrong tree, but are there any details you're entering which could be wrong? For about a month I couldn't figure out what the security code on my card was (three digits on the signature strip) which stopped me from working it.

Are you sure you haven'tdone anything crazy and put the details in wrong? When Mark first got his, he got the start date and end date mixed up

No, its pretty straight forward, they're all labelled clearly. If HSBC don't require you to activate the card then i don't know what i'm doing wrong!

does the card work in a cash machine? I had to use mine in a cash machine before i could use it anywhere else.
