I have applied for first year in interior design. Starting to get worried on how long the reply is taking. Has any first year receive anything back?
I called admissions last friday to see where they were on first year applicants to product design BA specifically - so this may not be true for all school of design subjects. They are still reviewing the online portfolios - no replies had been issued as of last Friday. They will start making responses towards the end of this week, it is their intention that we should have heard one way or the other by the end of next week but certainly by the end of the month as laid out in the UCAS details.
The moderator CRL thinks they are full of good intentions and may not stick to their time line.
Hope this helps

First hand experience....
So are the second year applicant days (painting specifically) going on right now?
Wish they would just reject me already.

Hi. The applicant day is held from 9th Mar to 13th Mar 2015 . And eca has already sent off the invitation letter to those applicant whom would be considered in the next stage. The official rejection letter will be sent off by end of this month.

I can only help you second hand as my son did an MA in performance costume there, not me, but I can maybe help a bit. He had a wonderful time, fwiw. If there are specific things you want to know, I can ask. It's a very small course, and it's very intensive, from what he tells me about the BA course. He knew a lot of the students on the BA course and that's why he went for the MA after his first degree. The degree shows are fantastic and there are quite a lot of youtube clips you can have a look at. It's a very big thing in the city. There are lots of industry connections because the Festival is such a big consumer of theatrical expertise.

As far as interviews are concerned, they don't seem to do them. My son also did his undergrad there and it was just a portfolio inspection, not an interview. You get taken round the university while they are looking at your work. This was for second year entry though. Sorry I can't be particularly helpful, but I didn't want you to go unanswered.

Thanks for the reply! I'll have to check out the youtube clips, but it looks like I might rule ECA out, it's just way too expensive for me. But if you could answer, do they do a lot of work studies? And you said BBC, but also films? I've heard back from Nottingham Trent(without an interview, which has me wary) and Central London School of Speech and Drama has offered me to start year 2 because of my experience. I wish I knew about how the system works for ECA as I would have applied for year 2. I have 3 years experience in the states already, do I don't think I need to start with the bare basics. I'm just waiting to interview Royal Welsh later this month, as their program also looks great. It's pretty much down to CSSD and RWCMD for me.

They certainly do have experience with films and the CVs of the graduates show they go on to work in these areas, but I know no more than that. FWIW, Central is much more well known.

fine art has art history, but general art doesn't! general art is just the 1st year where you try everything and then you pick your specialism for 2nd year onwards!

Yep, actually mine was art instead of fine art. I applied straight from school, and I'm doing Advanced Highers.
Was extremely surprised to recieve an offer today for Film and Television at ECA! With the offer rate I really wasn't expecting to get in.

Anyone else received offers ,or applied for this course?
Congrats everyone getting offers. I've applied for 2nd year Photography and went to my Applicant Day today.
