Year 12s: what will be the first way you research your future options? >>

No friends and in year 12

I feel so lonely seeing everyone socialising. People smile at me, have small talk, say hi to me. But i still have no good close friends :frown:

I sit with this one girl at lunch but we are not close friends and there are awkward silences. I just want someone to talk to!

Advice? Anyone in same position?

I have experienced same things earlier. I would advice you to be braver and to take more the initiative. If you don't try to make friendship in little steps, so you will not have a friendship.

Hey, I kinda know what it's like not to have close friends but I must blame myself for it because I was always the one keeping my distance - I actually didn't like the idea of being close

Anyways, try talking to people in class if you're confident enough. But I know what it's like to be awkward and shy. You should try finding a penpal or something. There's loads of safe sites like penpalworld.com or interpals.net where you can talk and make friends.

I do have friends at school but I made this penpal who means so much to me, we always write to each other and it makes me so happy when we talk - almost 1 year now! Maybe you should give it a try because you might make a lifelong penpal who's friendship is just as valuable as a 'close friend'. My penpal is nothing like my other friends and I made one of the best friendships ever. Best of luck
