Lol no my immediate reaction to a young mother pouring petrol on her baby and setting it alight on the street at 11pm seemingly in complete calm is not "she knew what she was doing!", it's "She's gone bat **** crazy".

Yeah it's not an object. We are talking about a human. But I'm sure it wasn't meant offensively loads of people say 'it' when referring to babies.
