Apparently there's rumors how Klopp isn't interested in managing the club due to the fact of the transfer committee. The club really needs to sort out its transfer dealings asap though.

I thought originally Rodgers didn't want a DoF, so they settled for the committee? Weren't the club negotiating for LVG at one point to take on that role ages back?
Klopp has worked under a DoF before, so I doubt he'd be unhappy with working under one again. And yeah, by all accounts, the club wanted a DoF before they compromised on a committee.

It's funny that of the 5-6 members of our committee, none have played football to a high level, none have any experience above the lower leagues, and more than 1 has no football background. The make-up of the committee has to change.

Yeah the composition must be changed at least, it just makes no sense how so many of the members have such little footballing background yet they are involved with transfer dealings. Absolute madness.

Agree with every word of Pimped's post.

Rodgers originally didn't want a DoF, but now that he's seen first-hand how tough the job is, that may change. It certainly needs to. Ferguson wasn't a micro-manager on the training pitch every day. Rodgers is. He wants that time putting the team through their spaces, so it's only natural for somebody else to focus on the transfer dealings in my opinion.

Similarly, by all accounts, Ayre is a master of commercialism and getting great incentive financial packages and partnerships for the club, so why isn't he just tasked with doing that and leaving the transfer dealings to a specialist?

The makeup absolutely needs an overhaul.

It is pretty funny how overwhelmingly simple Fergie's approach was. Buy the best players, have strong 1-1 defenders, buy attackers with similar playing styles, leave them to it, take their lead when it came to making changes in the system from season to season. We can't really afford to do the same, we don't have the spine and winner's mentality that he had in them. But of course, a good example all the same.

A DoF would do more than just handling transfers, he'd be involved with the youth academy, scouting, physios, everything else that can take up Rodgers' time basically. And it's true; Rodgers simply can not afford to be kept busy by such things.

Btw, I've read from a lot of German sources that Klopp wouldn't say no to us, so it seems pretty simple to me. It'd be surprising if FSG didn't bring him in, in my opinion. They've never been the type to spread rumours, and have been very, very ruthless with sackings in the past (in baseball).

Everybody seems to be making the same noises - Klopp doesn't want a sabbatical, categorically, so it would be a no-brainer for me too.

And also, didn't they sack the bloke who ended the Red Sox's curse and delivered their first World Series in about a century?
If Rodgers gets sacked, who'd be in for him? West Ham? Can't think of any other clubs in England he'd want to go to seeing as he came from Swansea, and there's not many who have much greater ambitions who would be in for him. Could see him going to Spain too.

Clearly got a high potential threshold as a manager. Like many on here, I have been very supportive of him as a manager. Got a great future ahead of him.

it's the first I've heard that the transfer committee WASN'T football people, I thought they never revealed who was in it. I just presumed it was mainly our senior scouts along with Ian Ayre, possibly with a couple former players and the U21 manager thrown in for good measure. If it's just a load of business men, then what the actual ****. Sort that **** out.
So Gerrard will be releasing his second autobiography on September 24th. I'll definitely be preordering it. I can't wait to read about how he felt about coming so close to winning the PL and then slipping right at the end. Hopefully it's an interesting read, I enjoyed reading his first autobiography.

agree (prsom) - i never read autobiographies but this is one i won't miss.
we can speculate and try to understand the things the man has gone through, but only he knows what it feels like to have a career with such highs and lows.

regarding the manager situation, obviously the papers will be making up whatever nonsense they can, but we won't know until after rodgers' review and/or the german cup final.
you would imagine that if klopp (and less realistically ancelotti) are available and open to a move, rodgers would be out the door.

Really enjoyed his first one. I'm very interested in hearing about the Hodgson era and his views on Hicks/Gillett, Kenny's return, playing with Suarez etc. Hope it is as honest as his first one and Henry Winter does it with him.
banter that Theo Walcott has written 5 books already, and Stevie G is only on his second.

no point buying anyway, DailyMail always give out all the best bits of the autobiography and the rest will just be filler
King Kenny's TOTS is utter *******s. Even your ex-managers are deluded clowns.
So rumours are that Rodgers wouldn't be as expensive to sack as he didn't achieve CL football.

Also Tim Sherwood has confirmed that Benteke has a release clause in his contract.

I saw reports that him failing to make top 4 will cap his payout.

told you....kinda

in any case, i still maintain that regardless of how much it would cost to sack rodgers, it shouldn't be done hastily.
personally i don't believe the man can get us where we need to be, but the next manager needs to be long-term and he needs to be carefully selected.

Daily Mail will just turn it into a sob story as to why Gerrard deserved a PL title and how he thinks Liverpool are the greatest club to have ever existed, rather than how he let the PL title slip.
RIP to the Heysel victims. 30 years ago today.
