Help! AQA Mechanics 2 M2
Conical Pendulum Question.. AQA Mechanics M2, Jefferson p126 6D Q1
Q) A ball of mass 3kg is fastened to one end of a rope of length 0.5m. The other end is fixed and the ball rotates as a conical pendulum at a rate of 5 rad.s^-1
How far below the fixed end of the rope is the centre of the circle traced out by the ball?
A) 0.392m
Just cannot get this. You're not told the radius and I just don't understand how you can work out the height of the triangle... Any help gratefully received!
