I have previously called for reparations rightly owned to the black community before:

We know directly which families benefited:

As long as Egypt/Tunisia/Morocco etc give us Europeans our due reparations for centuries of invading our coastal towns to capture white Christian slaves for the Ottoman trade.

There is a difference in that the government and royal family that exists today is a continuation from that which was involved in slavery.

Are there not any billionaire Sheikh types who have family links to dodgy dealings?
lol no thanks

No-one is going to be compensated out of present taxpayers' money for wrongs committed against their great (edit: great great) grandparents by dead people.

No Jamaican alive today has suffered because of British slavery - neither directly, because no Jamaican has been a slave to a Briton for nearly two hundred years, nor indirectly, because today's Jamaicans are far better off in Jamaica/Britain/America than they ever would have been had their enslaved ancestors remained in Africa. What grounds, then, are there for a claim for reparations?

Jamaica wouldn't exist without Britain. Can't we say we're good?
why the hell are they coming after the UK instead of the states? Oh thats right cos the US would laugh in thier face.

Pity the UK doesnt have the same balls

chair of the Caricom Reparations Commission, has led calls for Cameron to start talks on making amends for slavery

It's just some academic, not even the government.

I'd rather spend the money invading them again that give those leeches a single penny.
India's bid failed lol and now they start.

Well thankfully your opinion is irrelevant. :awesome:

Neutral here, but what makes you think your opinion is any more relevant than his?

India made no official bid for reparations. A well educated, respected Indian MP was invited to debate the issue at the Oxford Union. He did so with an intelligence and articulation that is beyond most british people of today.

If in the future, the day comes that India decides it wants reparations from Britain, there will be no debates.

And they won't be asking.
