The Student Room Group

I'm not ready to leave the student life

I've been very unhappy at City University. The student life sucks, the SU only really turned things round a bit this year and before that it was so anti-social and boring.

This is my final year and I'm enjoying it so much. I didn't have any fun whatsoever in my first 3 years!!!

I am considering doing a masters because I want the student life to continue. It'll either be abroad (thinking USA or Canada) or somewhere far away from London.

Living at home for 4 years at uni has been boring and all my friends who have lived out are bragging about the fun they've been having. I just want to enjoy the young life and continue living the student life. I'm not ready to do the 9-5 job every day yet.. I'm still only 22!

Of course it's not just to "socialise" and "have fun" as those are just bonuses. I wouldn't pay all that money just for that. As I'm studying Computer Science, getting a masters in some sort of programming or management course would help with job opportunities in the future. I'm predicted a first at the moment and trying to keep it with that but I would like to boost my CV with a masters as well.

So, am I justified in doing a masters?
Do what you want but don't you want a place of your own, to earn decent money and get your life started?

I be bored and have less income than being on benefits if I kept studying. So glad I'm making money and own a car.
My only advice is that if you go on to do a masters degree, make sure it's in a subject you enjoy rather than one you think might be helpful. Much like your smaller projects and coursework, if you don't enjoy it you'll struggle to succeed in it

I did a placement for 1 year. I liked it but it was a lot of hassle! I know that's what the adult life is like but as I said, I don't feel mentally ready for it yet.
