PG Dip/MSc Dietetics September 2016 Entry

Hi,

I'm currently on a gap year and hoping to specialise in Dietetics. I graduated last summer (2015) with a BSc Honours in Food Quality, Safety and Nutrition and have applied to a number of Universities throughout Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales offering a PG Dip/MSc in Dietetics. I was just wondering if there was anyone else in the same position and/or if anyone has been successful in gaining a place for September 2016 entry?

Sinead
Hey,
I'm in a similar situation - graduated summer 2015 with a BSc in Food science.
I have only applied to the Scottish unis that do PgD/MSc dietetics (GCU & QMU).
Not heard anything as yet, just generic responses.
Good luck with your application!

Hi Louisa!

Ah so you're currently on a gap year then? What uni did you go to?
I've applied to GCU and QMU as well and have only received generic emails also. I'm getting quite impatient, this waiting around isn't much fun.

Thank-you and the same to you!

Yeah I'm on a gap year just now. I went to GCU for my undergrad!
What about you?
Yeah I reckon it will still be quite a while yet unfortunately! But hopefully I'm wrong...
Which unis have you applied to? Do you have a preference?

Have you been trying to gain some relevant work experience this year Louisa?
Did you like studying at GCU?
I studied my undergrad at Queen's in Belfast.

I actually emailed GCU and they weren't able to give me any specific timescales but they hope to have initial decisions sent out by Spring time. QMU hope to have decisions sent out within the next two weeks so not much longer now.

I applied to University of Ulster Coleraine, King's College London, London Metropolitan, Leeds Beckett, University of Chester, QMU, GCU and Cardiff Metropolitan. I've already heard back from King's and Leeds and was unsuccessful in both applications but I just recently heard from London Met and I've been invited for an interview I don't really have a preference as all Universities seem to offer a good Dietetics course.

Do you have a preference Louisa?

Hi Tory,

I've just recently heard from London Metropolitan and I've been invited for an interview in March. I've already had word from King's College and Leeds Beckett but I was unsuccessful in both applications.

Where have you applied to Tory and have any of the universities contacted you regarding interviews?

Hey Chloe .. \\This will be my first interview actually. So don't really know what it will be like ? And wanted to get a better understanding of the written task and the group interview ? Is they a lot of people in the group ? Did the written task just involve writing about dietetics and the nhs ? \Sorry for asking so many questions. \\How many interviews do you still have left to do ?\\Mary x }

Hi there!

Yes I guess. All being well you should. Are you all set? I'm so anxious!
I've still a bit to do but I think I'm getting there. Have really just been trying to research about Dietetics as a profession and how my skills relate to that. As well as touching up on some of my nutrition knowledge. How about you?

Hi,
Same here, I am preparing a bit everyday, getting there slowly. I also have been doing some research about the profession, what it entails.. also readings nutrition/dietetics related journals.

It is quite stressful, specially not really knowing what they expect from us.

All the best and see you there !

Yes I have been reading some nutritional based articles as well but I completely agree, it's the unknown which is the scary part but sure if anything it's a learning curve for us.

Thank-you and same to you. Hope to see you there.

Hi Kyle,

Thanks for your message! I think for now, I'm happy enough. The interview day itself as well as the London Met website has been very informative.

Many thanks,
