A Question About Part Worn/Used Tyres...

Hi all,

Now I know that purchasing used tyres isn't the greatest idea and against my better judgement I purchased a pair...

The size is correct, the tread is legal but... I have one 'normal' tyre and a winter one. Is that even allowed?!?!

I'm going to purchase new ones first thing and never make the mistake of buying 'part worn' again.

It's legal, but it's not very clever. You'll have more grip on one side compared to the other.

If you're going to mix and match tyres at least have the same brand / model on the same axle.

That was a dumb idea. Mixxing tyre types/wear levels on the same axle can lead to unpredictable and unstable handling characteristics. The decision to by new tomorrow is definitely the right one. If you are within 14 days and still hold a receipt you should be able to get a refund for the old ones, although a lot of places will mess you about if you ask for one.
