They have a very competitive market, and so internet access is a lot cheaper in France than the UK ;yes;

Well, in politics, the internet is becoming more and more popular as a means of gathering information on candidates and for candidates to widen their campaign, to such an extent that french news papers are suffering from a fall in advertising revenue and a lack of readers.

Sarkozy and Royal recently made blogs to aid their campaign and this created a growth in the number of young people voting, the reason people use the internet more in france than ever is the low cost, it's very cheap (among the cheapest in the world). Politicians have taken this on board and are making icreasing use of it.

Good because
- More informed electorate (god bless wiki if you're a thickie)
- Increases voter participation

Bad because
- It's no less biased than the newspapers, obviously each candidate wants to win
- there are no laws on exposure like on the tv, Sarkozy certainly benefitted from this.
