Studying South America at SOAS

Hi all,

I applied for a BA Politics & International Relations at SOAS (along with Birmingham, Kent and UEA) back in January. I've since been accepted at all of them, and am now considering my options.

I've spent the past six months living and travelling around South America, and am increasingly eager to study/research into social sciences in that region of the world.

Whilst SOAS sounds like a cracking uni, I'm worried it's Oriental/African focus will channel me down an unnecessarily niche geographic path in my studies.

Should I be worried? Is there flexibility in studies for other regions? Or would I be better off studying at a less specialist institution?
