History society

We set up a history society, it was not as successful this past year as we had hoped and we need ideas on how to improve the society. If anyone who has been in existing societies could help us, that would be great! As we're not a sport, there wouldn't be weekly training so we're struggling to figure out what our society would actually do. We organised a few trips but it is hard to do lots of these because it's often asking people to spend money. We are in greater london so have used being so close to the capital but must people have visited the historical tourist sites in central and so we need more ideas!!
