Car safety (A-level physics)

I've been given a short task to do over the holidays before I start college and I'm stuck on on it. I have a few questions that I would like to know the answers too.
Q1 what are optimal materials for torsion bars, seat belts, crumple zones and airbags ? Why are the chosen?
Q2 why are some of the materials not used in certain cars?
Q3 where can I find the Euro NCAP Car Safety Standards? Had a look on the website and cannot seem to find it.

Q1: the approach should be to identify the purpose of each component, then identify how these purposes can be achieved, and what would be necessary for this. think about material properties such as: flexibility, strength, weight...
