Cambridge

I want to apply to Cambridge to do natural sciences but im worried it will be a waste of time as my GCSE's arent up to scratch.

GCSE's Physics A, English Lit A, Maths B, Chemistry B, Biology B,English lan B, German B, Geography B, History B, ICT C

But my AS are better; Physics A, Maths A, Chemistry B (1 mark off an A - getting remarked fingers crossed:wink:) and Classical Civilisation C

What are your initial thoughts, want to specialise in physics at Cambridge

Thanks
i don't think cambridge put too much focus on GCSEs (not as much as oxford) but they generally want applicants with AAAA at AS, at least with the old A levels. you can email them with your grades and ask whether there would be any point in applying and whether you would be seriously considered.

Thanks, I think I'll really consider applying if after the remark I have AAAC as the A's are relevant subjects. What email should i use as I need to decide as soon as possible therefore needing a reply quickly?

Thankks
i don't know the exact email - check on the website for natural sciences undergraduate admissions, and if you've already chosen a college then it might be worth emailing them too.

It's a difficult call. NatSci typical offer is A*A*A, so you (and your school) need to be pretty confident you can achieve that. I'd expect a high offer, potentially A*A*A*, given your low GCSEs, which is a common tactic to test for students who show remarkable improvement. At the end of the day, you won't know until you apply. I would argue the 3 As at AS are fairly essential here, so best of luck for the remark!
