ovids metamorphoses

anyone read Arthur Goldings translation and what did you think?
Ive personally only read sections that the myths are familiar to me - but i loved it.

I have a copy of it as Ovid's Hexameters are going to be the basis of the Latin A2 Unseen text. I haven't read much but like what I've read. I did the Echo & Narcissus passage for GCSE, which was cool.
Do you do Latin too?

Golding's pounding fourteeners, like the Transcendental Études of Franz Liszt, address the body as deeply as the mind: one is initially overcome by their force, gradually seduced by their rhythm, and ultimately left languishing as if raped by a horse. He found the perfect form for the English Ovid.

i think that goldings heptameter is something quite special.

i've never felt horse raped during or after reading it though. beautiful stuff.
