Getting into universities...

Hiya, I have been skimming through uni application stuff and I have a few questions regarding getting into unis...(I'd appreciate any help!)

1)When universities say they give you an conditional offer of, say, AAA for example for your course, and at the end of your A levels, you didn't managed to get the AAA, will the uni you applied to still accept you?

2) If you are not english and you do an A level in your native language(say, if you are german and did a german A level), will universities still respect that A level (since it's a language)?

3) And about Oxbridge, if you want to study science related courses which one is easier to get into?
And what if you are not very good when it comes to interviews, which one will be easier for you then?

4) And this one is a little beyond uni application..but I really want to ask it..
Regarding becoming a doctor, what is the minimum level of honour you should get? 2:2? Or 3?

Thank you all for your time! And I hope you can help me with these.

EDIT: unconditional to conditional. oops, I mis-typed.

If they want grades, it is a conditional offer, unconditional offers are for those who already have the grades or the university really like them (this is rare).

Usually, good universities do not accept a first language A-Level but, if you miss your offer eg AAB on an AAA offer, they may take into account a good grade in this language.

All courses at Oxbridge are difficult to get into, maybe not equally but you shouldnt really choose a course just because of how easy it is to get in; it is 3 years of your life.

The last I have no idea about...

an unconditional offer is one where there are no conditions to the offer, therefore getting one from a university would mean that you had already met the criteria at the point of recieving your offer.. what you are refering to is a conditional offer (one which has conditions attacted to it in order to gain a place) .. if it was say AAA then to get a place on that course you would need to obtain the grades AAA in order to be automatically accepted onto the course no matter what .. if you got say AAB then depending on the uni, the course and whether it was your first or second choice you might still be able to gain a place on the course if you ring them up and ask come results day.

As far as I know, it wouldn't usually be counted, since the A-level's obviously aimed at non-native speakers. There may be exceptions, though - you'd better contact your prospective universities in advance in order to make sure.

Neither, really. The courses are quite different, though: Oxford lets you do individual science subjects, whereas at Cambridge you'd have to do NatSci (with the option to specialise later on), so you might want to base your decision on that.
And what if you are not very good when it comes to interviews, which one will be easier for you then?

Interviews are an important part of the admissions process at both universities, so if you do badly at interviews, the rest of your application will have to have been bloody good for you to get an offer.

regarding oxbridge it is extremely competive and to study there you need to excel as a student, therefore making both as difficult as eachother to get into. If you're not very good at interviews then you should brush up on your interview techniques/ consider applying to universities that dont normally interview candidates..! Both unis interview well over 70% of their applicants (the actual figure is probs higher but i cant remember it off the top of my head) .. so be prepared and you should have less worries...

medicine is also extremely competitive and although im not studying medicine/a doctor in my opinion many of the brightest students go into pursueing a career in medicine and most of the decent universities require you to have at least ABB or higher to be able to get onto their medical courses..if you have these grades it is highly unlikely that you will get a 3 in your end of year exams unless you do literally no work at all throughout the year which isnt advisable if you want to get into such a competitive occupation after your degree..the minimum is probs a 2:1 as you want to stand a good chance against all those thousands of others also gaining their degrees at the same time as you..
i hope that helps and answers some of your queries
1. Don't you mean a conditional offer? If so, the answer is: if you're lucky. They're under no obligation to still give you the place, and judging by what I've seen it's more common for a university not to give you the place, if you don't make the grades. That's what your insurance choice is for, after all.

2. Not sure about that one, but the guys above seem to know.

3. Do you mean which science course is easiest to get into, or are you asking whether it's easier to get into Oxford or Cambridge? If it's the latter, no-one really knows, but it's probably about equal. If you're a successful applicant, you will have an interview no matter which of these universities you apply to. But the bottom line is that you're unlikely to be able to feign sufficient interest in a course you're not thoroughly interested in - so you should really be choosing your degree before you choose the university anyway.

4. To my knowledge, medical degrees aren't classed using the honours system.

Thank you everyone for the help!
And yes, I meant conditional, I mis-typed thinking about unconditional offers..XD ;D

And ah, I see about Oxbridge. It sure is tough then. X___X.

Thanks again!

Medical degrees aren't classified with a 2:1/3rd etc, although some places do award an honours degree to exceptional students. That'd only be one or two out of a yeargroup of 200 odd though.

I may be wrong, but I think that every university interviews for Medicine. It is very competitive. If you are really not good at interviews I would think again about studying Medicine at all.
