Thanks, cheapest was £3770, I think I'm better off getting my dad to put me as a named driver on his insurance.

Try mercedes insurance, they gave me a better quote if your going to be named , they quoted me less than £1700 for fully comp on a 1 year old A class with £250 excess total. All the other comparison websites quoted me over 2.5K !
Ok, I'll try that, thanks.
Hi, I am looking for a small car. I am 24 years old male. My budget is low. Basically looking for a small 4 seater car. I dont like the KA...I did look at Matiz .....Any other cars?? I need to drive 40 miles daily.
Picanto, Corsa, 106/7, C3, Lupo, Polo, Getz

Few to look at there. Maybe look for a diesel Lupo. Cheap to insure and should cost beans to put fuel in.

Thanks mate.......I like the getz too.........but could not find one in my budget......Might go for matiz i guess:ff:
I would reccomend any first time buyers to buy something Japanese, like a Honda Civic or a Mitsubishi Colt and generally avoid anything French or Italian. However, most cars will be reliable if they've been looked after properly. Get a Mechanic or an AA/RAC check, it could save you buying a lemon, and give you amunition to barter on the price.
Check the service history, if the cambelt is due to be replaced for example, that could cost hundreds. Diesel will giver you better economy and sometimes better reliablity (revs lower), but will command a higher price because of this.

Yeah, it's been great. I have the 1.6 sport 3 door model, and had no problems at all really. Imo it's a bargain, considering it has air con, cd player/radio, electric windows and sunroof etc. I guess the main thing against it is that it isn't considered very 'cool'. :p:

What's your budget? I think I was rather lucky with insurance on mine, it was about 1/3 of what it should have been. Might be better off looking at a smaller engine model.
This is a nice example if you've got a fair bit to spend:

Gives you an idea of all the extras you get, and insurance will be a steal on it....
Although tbh I'd buy an older model. Will be a lot cheaper and they're notoriously reliable, so age isn't as much of a problem.

Something like this:

If you wanted the 1.3. Also has bugger all mileage, but is 1k more..

Very resonably priced models, 1.1 might be a tad slow on longer motorway journeys, 1.3 should be more reasonable. Budget of upto £3000 so that 1.3 with low milage looks good. Me old man has driven the 1.1 Getz before and found it drives good. Will add this to me list of cars to choose from. Cheers mate for the advice

I know what you mean, for some reason when being in the driving seat it gets hot, never had that problem while being a passenger lol.

nooo not the matiz there is no room in one, and also if you are driving on motorways it is very uneconomical. the highest gear ratio is tuned for around town so on a 200 mile journey i got nearly double the fuel economy in my 1.6 golf than a friend did in a matiz. in fact his fuel economy was also beat by a friend in a 1975 mg b gt.

i would recommend a polo, very well built and deceptively spacious. and if you get an early 90s model it will be under a grand for the best ones.

So if your tyre flat after a couple of months can you take it back for a new one, free of charge?

Hmm, well I was thinking of why my body does this really :P but thanks for suggesting. I'm guessing it would go away when I drive more so I feel more comfortable

What sort of mileage is high for a petrol peugeot, was considering a 306 meridian (1.4) from 2001.

Only concern its done 65k miles...
