what visual phenomenon (visual perception) is this person talking about?
2) I work as an operator at a manufacturing plant, and I am required to monitor a large screen that shows important diagnostic information from various pieces of equipment. Sometimes I don't notice an important message when I'm looking at the other side of the screen—I can see that there is a message there but I can't understand it unless I look close to directly at it. Can you explain why this happens? It is really annoying, because I have to keep moving my gaze all around the screen to make sure I don't miss anything important. Do you have any suggestions for how I might reduce the problem?
