i don't you have ever done a placement year? You can basically do one at any Uni if you do MEng/BEng Engineering degree, you apply for the jobs, attend the interviews, and turn up to work. If OP goes to Bristol he will do the same things to get a placement year.

Wait so about the placement year, is it easier to get one in bath/ bristol or is the difficulty of getting one the same? Do both unis have the same amount of support? Or is one better than the other when it comes to which uni the company wants to employ for the year in industry?

That's cute and all, tbh don't really care where the dude or girl goes, he ought to go a place where his opportunities are maxed out. Bath have done the placement scheme for donkey years and have better connections, they regularly post info about where they graduates are employed at after graduating instead of giving some BS percentage of "people employed", offer more engineering disciplines than bristol and have been rated top 10 across all the engineering disciplines for the past 5 years ( one might think they actually specialise in them but what do i know).

Bristol is higher rated for humanities Bath is better for sciences again i don't really care where the guy goes. Free country. I don't see why you'll worry about city/campus or not a city/campus because Bath and Bristol are literally 15mins from each other by train. Worry about your course.

Getting a placement year realistically will probably be more 'pushed' at Bath, but if you want to do one you chances to secure one will be equal.
You go and find jobs at your Uni careers events, or on gradcracker (website) or through google.

You then apply to companies like: Jaguar Land Rover, Babcock, SIemens, edf... many many more
Your ability to secure one will be through practicing online tests (normal part of job applications to engineering companies)
and interview skills and preparation.

Not really because if u want to work in engineering, it wont make any difference what Uni OP picks.
But if 3/4/5 years OP decides he would rather work in a different sector but now has an engineering degree, Bristol will offer better prospects.
And Yes both Bath & Bristol do Formula student

Sorry, Bath has a better rep for Engineering

What kind fo projects did your son do?

His group project was an electric tuc-tuc thing sponsored by a Chinese outfit, all the projects are "real world" with a view to going through to production.
His final year project was about 3D printed lattice structures and how they stood up to load at various diameters and spacings.
You'll live on site first year.
After that you'll probably live in Oldfield Park, the student ghetto.
Oldfield Park rail station is on the line to Bristol, two stops down the line.

Fall = autumn here if you want to 'blend in'. Some unis offer free bus passes from accommodation - you need to check.

Sue me , I speak whatever I want
Besides that wouldn't apply to bath students. All campus accommodation ia within 15 mins walk of the main parade/spine where all departments are. City accommodation is for unlucky dons or people who put bath as insurance(and of course 2nd 3rd and 4th years). You have to pay for those like everyone else cos it's a public service

It's convenient like that.

The question was which bus service is free - My reply was accurate - some unis give free bus passes. I did not say Bath did ...
