Politics & International Relations - What kind of laptop should I get?

To all Politics & International Relations students at university level, what kind of laptop do you think I should get? I do have a desktop which I hope to bring with me so, to be honest, I don't even know if I need one. I was planning to get a MacBook Air but I wanted to see what you guys/girls thought.
If you've got the money then buy a MacBook Air, fair enough. Otherwise, a good Asus or HP laptop would work really too. If you're looking for a cheaper option, definitely look at Chromebooks. For a degree like Politics & International Relations which as an essay-dominated subject you're really only using a laptop as a word processor (unlike, for example, if you were taking Computer Science, in which you'd need a fast laptop that ran Windows/MacOS) so you don't have to go for anything too fancy. Considering you're going to bring your desktop PC with you there is little need for anything flashier, as any files can be backed up to your PC, and speed isn't too much of an issue.
