Hi,
I am going to attend Heriot-Watt University for an undergraduate programme. I am currently looking at accommodation on campus but cannot find any information online. Does anyone know if contemporary student rooms are located in flats between 10 people sharing a kitchen or is it multiple corridors with people designated to a certain kitchen like in corridors. I want to be in the most sociable (party) halls and have been designated to a flat of 5 and I am not very sure if it's very good or not. I would be very grateful for any help in terms of how accommodation works at Heriot-Watt.

We have two types of rooms in the contemporary accommodation - single standard rooms which have access to a shared kitchen (about 10-12 rooms per kitchen) and flats of 5 rooms (with a kitchen and a lounge). Otherwise both room types are pretty much the same. The social life isn't really restricted to the type of room your in so I wouldn't worry too much. Having said that, due to the restrictions around Covid just now the flats are probably better as you'll be able to form a social bubble with the 4 other students and not have to worry about social distancing with them. Either way, there will be plenty of opportunities for socialising both at a distance and in more normal ways once things open up again!

Yes - the current guidance from the Scottish government suggests bubbles of up to 8 people. Obviously if that guidance changes we would update our guidance accordingly!

I don't think any specific information has been published yet about this but there is some general information here - https://www.hw.ac.uk/coronavirus/return-to-campus.htm and this will hopefully be updated pretty soon to clarify the situation!

Hi!
Honestly, I've got no clue. The answer is a lot, you'll share a kitchen with a set number of people but there are quite a few kitchens on each floor. Give [email protected] an email and I'm sure they'll know a lot more than I do!
