Hi Maria, I am a current student at the University of Sussex, studying Medical Neuroscience MSCI. As far as as I know Sussex specialises in developmental studies and is at the top of the League Tables for that specific subject area. I am also happy with my course, and the general study and social life at Sussex, so I would definitely recommend studying here

However, ultimately the right choice of university and the course really depends on what you are interested in, where you want to live and and study and what type of support you need & want from the university. I would advice you to have a careful look at the modules of offer at the 2 institutions you are considering (if you have not done so already of course ...), have a look at the area you would be living in, what housing is available, what are the local part-time job opportunities, what is the social life like, etc. If you are still undecided, it may also be worth contacting the universities and maybe discussing the courses in a bit more detail with an a department lead, academic tutor, etc. I hope this helps at least a bit . Let me know if you have any specific questions about what it is like to live in Brighton, study at Sussex, etc.

Best Wishes,
Kasia (4th Year Medical Neuroscience Student (MSCI) with a Year Abroad)

Hi Maria, I have just completed the PGCert Global Development Challenges at Edinburgh University which is one of three certificates that gains you an MSc Global Challenges (which is my ultimate goal). The advantage of the Edinburgh course is that you can do it all online as it is a distance learning programme. If this is the sort of educational experience - where you can work your home and work life around your study - then I would recommend this programme. You also get to meet people from all around the world as the distance learning element makes it a very attractive offering. It is clearly also a lot cheaper than having to move to study. I hope this helps with your decision making - and all the very best with your studies wherever you choose to go.

Hey! I have exactly the same dilemma with a third option being the MPA International Development at the University of York! What did you choose at the end and how is it going?
Thanks

Hi!
I am also very interested in the MSc in Global Challenges. I am not new to the online learning, so it is ok, but how do you find the teaching's level, the material and is it too much theories?
Thank you

Hi,

I am looking to study online at Edinburgh and would really like to know what the lecturers are like - their specialisation in particular as I noticed the two MAster's programmes are on offer from the Centre of African Studies. Is there a specific theme of African development?
