Any other questions on the teaching style - or anything King's related - I'm here to be asked. Just make sure you quote me so I know to look here.

Well one thing i wanted to ask was is there anything that really makes kings stand out from the other universities? My main reason for choosing it is because I just liked everything about it and the atmosphere, but those are subjective reasons. Is there anything that I should be researching in particular?

hmmmm, could you please possibly go through your interview/qu's/setting/everything basically! how did you feel? what were the interviewers like?!? how was your ethical dilemma? what's the questionnaire about??????
sorry about the long list, just SOOOOOOOO freaked out!

hmmm im not sure if redsox (sp) will be able to answer your questions in too much detail... i had an interview at gkt yesterday, and they made it pretty clear we shouldn't discuss the interview questions or ethical issues with other people, and had to sign some pink bit of paper to declare this.

the setting is a smallish-medium sized interview room, with chairs, a window and a coffee table.. oh and the interviewers! to be honest.. you will be fine so long as you know about everything in your ps, and is genuinly interested in medicine to have done some research about it.

im an oldie:p: , having graduated from kcl last year, and applying for the A100 5 years course for 2009 entry; but even with that taken into account, i think the same applies for all applicants not to discuss the int qus etc.
Thing is, now I'm a second year, they may not even have quite the same style of interview anymore! But the questions were pretty standard for a medical interview. They asked me some basic clinical questions on gastroenterology, which lead onto me mentioning cancer, and it turned out that one of the interviewers was a cancer specialist, so I got a little questioning on that. (This wasn't stuff that I'd mentioned in my PS, but that came up when we discussed my work experience. As long as you stay calm and work through it logically, I don't see why there should be much of a problem. Also stay aware of basic medical things - for instance, it's not so unreasonable for them to think you might have a basic biological knowledge of how cancer works).

The questionnaire and ethical scenario - well, it's probably best to hand the questionnaire in finished, and let the ethical scenario go slightly, isn't it? Also, be sure why you want to study at King's in particular before you get there. I don't want to say tooo much about the interview in case they come and find me! (It wouldn't be too hard) They were quite nice, though.

Part the reason I chose KCL was that you can have placements at Guy's and St Thomas' - these amazing hospitals that get unusual cases and all that - but still have placements at other hospitals, like King's, that have standard cases. So you get a nice mix of everything. But if you liked the environment, surely that's a good enough reason, too? Just make it clear you actually want to go there as well as actually wanting to do medicine, and you should be fine, right? Also we have like 5 medical centre things which is more than anyone else in Europe - but you can get this stuff off the webpage, if you look.

The sports teams are specific to the med school - as far as I'm aware, it's only rowing that isn't split into a med team and a non-med team. But since the campuses are divided, you tend to get divides too. Like med and biosciences tend to hang around at Guy's Bar while the humanities go to the Waterfront instead. Oh, and all med students are automatic members of MedSoc.
