I guess I'll go first to get the ball rolling.

A-Levels/ equivalent: Spanish, Biology and History
Predicted grades: Haven't got any official grades yet but estimated A*, A*, A+
Universities you'd like to apply for: Undecided as I still need to go to open days, however I'm looking at Oxford, Durham, UCL, LSE, Exeter, Warwick, Bristol and York
Feelings on the LNAT: I haven't looked into it much yet, but will start on arbitio in the summer after exams, I've heard it's pretty difficult so feeling slightly nervous
Super- curriculars: I've read What about Law?, An Introduction to Law, attended the Cambridge Law Conference and have done 2 essay competitions and a few MOOCs. I'm also doing an EPQ on law. I'd quite like to get some more reading done over the summer though but I have some work experience lined up which should be cool!
Why law?: Honestly the hardest question.. I like that it's a social science as I was really struggling to find something that combined my love for History and Biology. I'm hoping this is the right fit as I've loved everything I've read on criminal law and tort law so far and am super interested to look into medical law as well as it sounds like my perfect combination, we'll see though.

Good luck too OP!

English Literature, Law and Business (A levels)
Predicted AAA (AS) not yet received predicted grades to be used for applications.

I’m thinking of LSE/KCL, Warwick, Exeter, Birmingham and Qmul but most likely going for a legal apprenticeship (if I get in.)

I’m weirdly anticipating the LNAT. I tried some practice questions a while ago and it was indeed difficult but definitely not the end of the world hehe

I’ve taken part in a couple of work experience programmes at some law firms. I’ve also participated in an essay competition and sending in 2 more next month. I took part in the Linklaters Making Links School Challenge and was a finalist by God’s grace and I’m doing a EPQ in law from September (maybe also linking business and tech in it too.) Lastly, I’ll be attending some uni summer schools for law.

Why Law?
The law intrigues me. I love the level of analytical thinking associated with a career in law. The fact that I’m able to combine my passion for Business/Economics in the legal sector by gaining commercial awareness and aspiring to go into commercial law is absolutely amazing! I love learning both academically and otherwise and a degree/career in law promises a lifelong brain teasing experience.

I cringed so much writing this loll

A-Levels/ equivalent: History, Politics, Sociology
Predicted grades: AAA (received those predicted on the 18th Aug)
Universities you'd like to apply for: Warwick, Nottingham, Southampton, Kent and I'm unsure about the 5th (I've been looking at non-Russell groups as a 5th choice such as Lancaster ,Surrey and UEA)
Feelings on the LNAT: I was very nervous when thinking about it because Nottingham required it but now I'm aware that they do not require it for the 2023 cycle and I bought the lnat book before I knew this. (I am looking to sell my LNAT book for £30-35. My book is the 2023 edition as well)
Super- curriculars: Plenty of work experience with law firms and barristers chambers and I've been reading some books such as Fake Law and Do Right and Fear No One. Also attended insight days as well
Why law?: I'll make it short and snappy even though I could explain it in paragraphs. I like its ability to solve conflicts between people in an impartial manner and I am intrigued by how it can be a beacon for change in society. As previously said as well, I've done work experience and I was able to go to the RCJ in one of the programmes. I was amazed by the advocacy of the barristers and the complexity of the case which suits my ambiguous persona. I also talked to some solicitors at a law firm I did W experience with and from speaking to them I became even more excited in areas of law that I have an interest in such as employment and real estate to name a few. After reading fake law, I realised how abuse of executive power has made it difficult for people to gain access to justice through cuts to legal aid and legislation such as LASPO 2012.

Hiiii

I do A levels and am predicted A*s in English Lit, Econ and RS and an A in history.

I plan on applying to Oxford, UCL, Bristol and Durham. I was thinking of applying to LSE as well but have heard that there isn’t much going on socially so don’t think I’ll apply as I don’t want to miss out on the typical uni experience. If I don’t have any offers for the above unis before the second UCAS deadline, I’ll use up my last choice but haven’t decided where I would apply to yet. Maybe Leeds or York. However, I’ll probably take a gap year if I don’t get into Oxford, UCL, Bristol or Durham as it’s something I’ve been debating whether or not to do anyway.

The only revision I have done for the LNAT so far are 2 practice tests yet weirdly I’m not that stressed abt it despite the fact it’s basically in a month. However, I have Arbitio now so am going to start consistent revision on there. If anyone is planning on getting Arbitio, I have a working 10% discount code so just private message me

In terms of supercurriculars, I’ve read like 2 books (feel like I probably should have read more), have won two essay competitions, started a law society at my school, did an online course (Justice by Harvard University - although it’s more so about political philosophy) and attended a lecture at Cambridge.

Why law? I’ve been into politics and philosophy for quite a while now and find that the law is the perfect balance between the two pretty much.

Have you guys written your personal statements yet?

A-Levels= Law, Sociology, and English Literature

Predicted grades: A*A*A

Universities you'd like to apply for: Cambridge, LSE, Uni of Manchester, Nottingham

Feelings on the LNAT: kinda scary because it can be a make or break in some situations, also it's the first time with Cambridge now using LNAT so there's some uncertainity about the weightings etc.

Super- curriculars: read the children act by Ian Mcewen, Fake Law by secret barrister, Eve was Shamed (still reading a couple), listening to podcasts by BBC. Work experiences with a few corporate firms, mini pupillage.

Why law?: its hard to explain, but I find the subject really interesting especially as someone whose into politics, current affairs.

A-Levels/ equivalent: English Literature, History, Sociology

Predicted grades: these haven't been finalised but ABB (I need to raise each of these to A*AA

Universities you'd like to apply for: UCL, KCL, LSE, Reading, Royal Holloway

Feelings on the LNAT: Incredibly intimidated as of now, but apparently a loose knowledge of current affairs helps - which I have! I'm starting tutoring from Wednesday onwards so that should help.

Super- curriculars: I intend on finishing off my reading of "Eve Was Framed", "The Rule of Law", "In Your Defence" and "The Secret Barrister". I have also completed a course by Amnesty International on human rights law and the environmental crisis, as well as the University of Cambridge course on exploring different forms of law. In addition to this, I am in the process of completing my Kennedy's Law Firm virtual work experience and have successfully completed the Springpod Law introductory course.

Why law: A difficult question requiring multiple answers. Firstly, it feeds into my love of the humanities and social science, as well as enabling me to hold a unique perspective on the world around us. Second of all, I am very adamant on helping people to the best of my ability and am especially appalled at the current state of the Law (especially in UK!). For example, various human rights violations such as the whole Rwanda situation and the conservative government's attempts in reforming the Human Rights Act (1998) to meet their disgusting agenda. Overall, I think my exposure through social media to well-known celebrity court cases (i.e. the OJ Simpson Case and the current Depp V Heard issue) certainly sparked my interest initially.

A-Levels/ equivalent: German, Polish, Latin, Geography
Predicted grades: 4 A*s
Universities you'd like to apply for: Oxford, KCL, Bristol, Warwick, Nottingham
Feelings on the LNAT: Stressed because my practice test scores do fluctuate sometimes but I may be overworking for it. Feeling good for the essay tho.
Super- curriculars: School leadership
Why law?: Interest in Jurisprudence

How are all the early applicants feeling? I'm a bit nervous about the LNAT as my scores are interesting... but I still have two weeks before I have to sit it, which should hopefully be enough.

Hey, I'm not an early applicant. I just discovered this thread because I realised that it was separate to the official law applicants thread. I'm predicted 3 A*s and I've done my PS (pretty much, haven't done an EPQ or a lot of stuff tbh so I've adjusted with what I've done so far). I've only done 3 Arbitio tests, and I've got 24, 24, and 25 in them. My test is on the 5th of November, so I'm not too stressed. How have your LNAT scores been coming along on Arbitio (all of them)?

If your AS is AAA, I'm sure you'll be predicted A*A*A*. I'm literally like you, and applying for university as a backup if I don't get a legal/solicitor apprenticeship lol. I've found like 30+ (only 2 are open, and I don't know if all of them are running this year) so I'm going to apply to as many of those as possible. I'm also applying to finance degree apprenticeships, because I like finance so even with law I'd probably specialise in commercial law. What kind of LNAT scores you been getting, because they're either good or your delusional for anticipating the LNAT lmao. Yeah, so I've found another law apprenticee, really hope we get onto that.

Ah well done on your LNAT practises! If you have any advice please do share as I'm struggling quite a bit! I've gotten one 24 and averaged 21 on a few others. It's not going nearly as well as I'd like :/ Hoping I can figure out a few more tips to up my score as I always deliberate between the correct answer and the one I end up picking!

This does seem to be the problem, as even with the process of elimination, one is often left with two answers which both serve to answer the question. Here, you must look to the passage for any sort of word which would negate the elements of one of the two answers and satisfy better the elements of the other. My strategy for going through the test is to read the passage in full first in order to gain a feel for the text's main idea and then look to the question and back to the relevant part of the text. This has seemed to work fine so far, as I'm mostly left with 20 minutes to spare but obviously I change a few answers at the end in checking which mostly serves to lower my score so I guess initial instincts are more reliable (makes sense since it's harder to re-assimilate with a passage. You should be fine, what kinda of score do you think you'd need for Oxbridge?

A-Levels/ equivalent: Spanish, Biology and History
Predicted grades: Haven't got any official grades yet but estimated A*, A*, A+
Universities you'd like to apply for: Undecided as I still need to go to open days, however I'm looking at Oxford, Durham, UCL, LSE, Exeter, Warwick, Bristol and York
Feelings on the LNAT: I haven't looked into it much yet, but will start on arbitio in the summer after exams, I've heard it's pretty difficult so feeling slightly nervous

Hi! I'm in a similar situation to you! I'm thinking of applying to the same unis and also have a passion for social science and an interest for law but have difficulty explaining why as I have no formal experience studying it apart from a few books and lectures! BEST OF LUCK!

Hi! I'd love to hear about your newly-updated choice list haha,, My application is going well, I'm stressed though because I'm scared that I'm applying to some of the most competitive unis so I'm worried what I'll do if none of them accept me!! I am an early applicant but only because my school requires us to be lol, I'm not applying to oxbridge or anything. I'm applying to LSE UCL KCL and Warwick, but idk which to chose for my last choice (any suggestions would be welcome!!) Also, I'm doing my LNAT exam soon and am very stressed as I feel many people have been preparing for months and months and months but I don't really know what else to do than practise questions and essays... Have you sat the exam yet? If so, how did it go? If not, how are you preparing for it? and if you have any extra tips on anything for applying to law i would obviously love that haha.

Ahh don't stress (something I'm trying to remind myself daily!) Revising for the LNAT is definitely useful but don't compare yourself to those who have been revising for months because who knows what their score will be, everyone works at different paces, has a different thinking style ect. Any practise is useful practise! My LNAT is next Thursday and I've been trying to do a test per day to get ready for it. I'm not sure if you use arbitio, it's quite expensive but I've found it incredibly useful thus far. If you want a discount code, I believe I have one which works. When is your LNAT?

I've narrowed my choices down to Oxford, UCL, LSE, Durham and Warwick although I still want to look over Exeters course, but I'm pretty sure York is off my list. As for reccomendations, look over ranking tables (if that matters to you) and look at course structure, they vary between universities, look at costs (if thats important to you) and also the city itself, for example Bristol and its law library are absolutely stunning!

I also understand your fear of feeling like applying to great universities can only be detrimental, however I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and that you have to faith that it will all work out. Trying to relax is the best thing you can do because otherwise you suffer twice: once before and once during. I'm making myself sound very wise, but I promise I completely understand your fear, my advice (that I'm also trying to follow) is to try enjoy the process and do the best you can
