Hey smoo, how's reading going/gone?

I'm struggling to focus on Wordsworth because my mind tends to wander a lot when reading The Prelude...(which is funny because Wordsworth tends to wander off and not get to any particular point a lot too)

Second year at UCL, but I also gapped. In fact, I just turned 21.

Go me.

P.S. - I only managed AABB, and after lots of soul searching, decided to try and get into UCL again by doing another A-level in a gap year. Best decision I ever made. I think what has to motivate you is finding the right course, and having the willpower to make it happen. But yeah, even getting AAB does not have to be the end of the road. I'm proof!

 sounds like you made the right choices then, so good on you.
i dont think i want to take a gap year because i just want to finish sixth form and then make a start on getting the degree. did you take part in any voluntary work? im planning on doing some this summer holiday and also during my enrichment week so hopefully my chances will be a bit better.

and i know what you mean, i have such high hope for myself even though im only predicted AAB and have a C in maths because i know I can make it happen if i try and make my ps stand out :yy::happy:

I don't think so. Surely if you decline that means you don't want to go there!

We were supposed to have tests in tests in the Cruciform and there were not enough computers. The spare people including yours truly were sent to Torrington Place where there were spare computers. Then we realised that we needed a password (the guy who was supposed to be there had gone back to teh Cruciform) We ended up walking back there only to be told that there was an extra person to join our wandering group. We were sent back to Torrington Place since the guy had left to look for us there. We got back there and were told he had just left.

To summarise by the time we started the test it was a 1 hr into it and it was a 2hr test (I think). Which meant that I started at 5 instead of 3 pm and didnt leave till 7pm that evening

Did you follow that? I thought not

still at home:frown:
i'm just gonna hold tight and put up with home for the rest of this year and move out next year. its only a few months to go when you factor in easter holidays and that..:o:

Lol same here. I applied for halls but since I was going to be living pretty much a 15 minute walk to Baker Street and 25 minute walk to uni in total I just didnt see the point. Plus I have the house to myself :ninja:

Are you enjoying it though? And the course?

Yeah but you live in Bow which must be quite annoying as it is a distance isnt it. Are most of your friends in halls or living at home?

I am doing Biomedical Sciences and honest to God wished I had stuck with Biology instead. The course is huge and all people do is go there work and go home. Most people tend to socialise with their halls or just go home and study more. No one on my course is crazy about it either, people either want to go into medicine or go onto specialise in another science area and are simply using it as a stepping board

If there were no societies (and Neon :o: ) I would have gone crazy :s-smilie:

well it's a bit annoying, seeing as i have to rely on the hammersmith and city line, which is officially the worst tube line in london, but if it's actually working then it's not that bad at all.
i don't belong to any societies except for the law soc :frown: i kind of missed the boat on all that stuff cos it took me a while to settle in, by the time i was comfortable with university and ready to get stuck in a little bit, felt like it was too late to "join in" as such, will probably join some stuff next year!
do love a bit of neon though

to be honest, i don't socialise that much with ucl people anyway, most of my social group at college went to kent university, so spend a few weekends a month in canterbury with them, or just hang out with them if they are in london. i also have a job which no one else seems to have, which takes up 2 nights a week of my time.

Hello,

sorry to intrude on your current students thread as i am not a current student but i had a question i was hoping someone could help me with.

I've just been accepted for law and I was wondering would it be possible to while taking my courses in law to take a class on dutch language as well from the Dutch department. I wasn't sure how the british system worked with taking classes outside of your department but i realllly hope its okay.

thanks!

we have a language centre where you can take evening classes, it costs money though.
