Hi Aliyan!
Contact time in the form of workshops, lectures and seminars varies depending on your year of study, and the modules you choose. On average, a first year student will have between 5-15 hours of in-person classes, which will likely be supplemented by independent work assigned by your professor or lecturer. This averages at 3-5 days a week of on-campus classes, but here at Reading there are labs and computer spaces available for you to use/access outside of class hours for further research or practicing programming and the like.

Hi,

Universities can differ to how many lectures they supply a week for each course, it depends on how the course is delivered, and how much independent study they ask of you. The amount of lectures can vary for each academic year too. Sometimes there will be only a few lectures during first year but this will increase as the course progresses, or vice versa. The rule of thumb is the allow enough time for uni as you would a full time job (35ish hours) to get the most out of your degree, including lectures.

The best thing to do is attend an open day for your university of choice, and see if there are any course reps for computer science who can tell you more about their experience of the course. If you are unable to attend an open day, usually you can try and contact the universities information hub and they should be able to give you more information.

Sometimes the universities will provide information about how you'll spend your time studying within the course page on their website. For example, take a look at the University of Portsmouth BSc/MEng Computer Science course information page to give you an idea.
