Student finance veterinary medicine
Hi, my daughter has applied for her student finance and been awarded a higher maintenance loan than expected. Phoned and told it’s due to it being a long course loan and student finance go on the code given by the universities , so awarded an extra £x per week over 30 weeks.,Does anyone know if this is normal, are veterinary medicine degrees classed as long courses over 30 weeks ?
Yes they are. Veterinary Medicine is classed as a long course each year so our term times are usually much longer than other courses and we're also expected to go on placements in the summer. These qualify us for the slightly higher student loan (although not much!).
