HiI as a parent of 2 kids exploring an option to go abroad for say 5 yrs while I do that, my kids will continue to study (secondary school) in UK.When we apply for Uni, does my status of not being in UK matters in terms of treating my kids as local fee paying students?thanks

No, the two determining factors are their nationality and where they, (the kids), are ordinarily resident in the years preceding the course.
