UAL Accommodation Reviews

Could anyone share their experiences of living in their UAL hall? I’m specificially looking at Gardens House, Archwood, Furzedown and Cordwainers but open to others.
Let me know if anyone comes back to you about Furzedown - I asked on here a while back but got no response :frown:

You applying for 2023 entry? I’ve heard the area of furzedown - Tooting is a bit dodgy but that was a few years back. I like how they have an on-site gym.

Hi this is what I wrote in response to someone else asking about furzedown

Stuff to know for travel, buses are a ten min walk from the accom, not big but adds time to comute, tube is 30 min walk! and overground is as well. it makes comuting to pretty much any uni and esspecially central london 1 hour to 1 hour and a half!

so be ready for this, as for the place itself rooms are honestly really nice loads of storage and colourful (lime green or orange) ive seen a lot worse from london uni accoms. id say thats the only thing in its favour tho as the common areas are barely used and is basically a glorified entrance way (theres a gym but i dont work out so wasnt useful to me) theres a smoking shed outside where a lot of socialisation happened so if thats your style but I dont smoke so cant say if it was any better of a social scene. also theres only one vaccum for the entire biulding so do bring one, the kitchens have no windows or seating and are very stuffy in the main biulding floors C and D so be ready for that if your in that block

the biggest problem was probably the loacation, the noise of the school it overlooks (only a problem on lower floors) and the lack of a social scene which is to do with the location and lack of social areas (seriously no seating in most kitchens they are galley style so basically a corridor you can barely move in) if you socailise a lot at your uni and you can deal with commute its a fine accom, not for the price but thats just london!

Also Cedars hall (if you apply to Furzedown you automatically apply to Cedars too, they are right next to each other) had better kitchens, so on the floors without ensuits the kitchens had windows and every two had a table, yes the bar is that low lol! if you can get a ensuit at cedars then thats your best bet but I never saw if there was a block that offered that. Some rooms at Cedars overlook a primary school too tho.

The rooms are seriously really nice tho loads of storage, a mini fridge in your room! and ensuit bathrooms, I've got a much worse room in my flat this year! also I visited someone at Archwood once and it looked amazing, honestly if you can afford anything else id avoid Furzedown.
