UAL CSM Foundation Year Application 2023

Hello,

I uploaded a portfolio a week or so ago and haven't heard anything back yet. The deadline for submission was March 10th. I wondered if anybody else has heard anything about their application/portfolio/an interview etc?

When i talked to current students at the open day they all said that they didn't receive offers till May and their friends that had heard earlier had been rejected

Thanks for the feedback! I looked on the thread from last year and it seemed like some people heard something in March/April? Maybe they were international?

out of curiosity, I wondered which pathway people had applied to? I imagine that some pathways receive more/less applicants?

I applied for graphic communication

*suddenly starts hoping for no response till may* 😂
on a real tho, the wait is so long!! I'm going crazy checking this app everyday to see if anyones heard back lol. really hope this wait is worth it 😂

I applied for graphic communication

I applied for diagnostic which is pretty popular. kinda wish I applied for the 3d route tho cuz I think it would be more interesting but oh well

I just watched a UAL video that said it’s good to apply for a certain pathway if you have experience in that area otherwise you should apply for the diagnostic pathway - It makes me think there are more ‘specialist’ applicants and I maybe should’ve done the diagnostic path way!

I also did some math from the same video I watched. They said there are 550 places on the CSM foundation course between 16 different pathways. If they have a 6% acceptance rate that means they’re receiving over 9000 applications - so I’m sure it takes a lot of time to review! (If I figured it out correctly!)

9000 applications woah that's scary! do you have any idea of the Home to international ratio as in how many home students to international they accept ?
UAL seem to have a lot of foreign students so I'm wondering how many home students get accepted

If I remember rightly, I think UAL accepts just under 50% for international students. International students Pay more than home students/the government does. I think there are international spots and home-based spots. If they don’t fill the international maybe they open them up to home students, not sure if they meet their quota of international students? I noticed that the applications for international students for the foundation course just closed today. They obviously left it open longer as they needed more applicants. It had said that it would close on 22nd of February, just like it does for home students

I have another question :smile:

How many people applied to the UAL foundation course as well as other degree courses and how many just to the foundation. Also, is the foundation course your 2nd choice if accepted to a degree course?

I applied just for the foundation - is that common?
