Architecture degree

Hi, I'm considering a degree in architecture and was wondering if anyone could give me advice on the application process, and their time during the course, and any other relevant experiences!

Make sure that any courses you apply for are ARB/RIBA accredited/validated. It will usually state that on the uni's course webpage, but you can also check on the ARB and RIBA websites.

Architecture courses that are ARB/RIBA accredited/validated are very similar in content they all have modules in design, history, architectural technology, etc. The design modules usually represent around 50% of the course. However, how these modules are delivered and the overall focus of a programme vary from uni to uni and this will depend on the strengths and specialisms of the staff, and the facilities provided. Visit as many unis as you can and talk to staff and students to get a sense of the programme and whether it will inspire you.

Most unis will require you to submit a portfolio of creative work as part of the application process. The request for the portfolio can come in within a couple of weeks of submitting your UCAS application, and the requirements vary from uni to uni so be prepared to adapt it.

If you Google manchester uni architecture portfolio blogspot, you will be able to see examples of portfolios submitted by undergraduate applicants.

Plymouth uni has some portfolio examples on its website:
