Where to Apply for a Bar Practice Course

Hi guys, what are some good unis or institutes that offer BPCs? Are the ones found in the BSB Website the only ones?
Yes, it is just the institutions on the BSB website. There's always been only a limited number who offer it. For a long time you could only do it in London. When I did it I think there were five or six who offered it. It's about ten now I think, and you also have other options with many of those, including studying it alongside an LLM top up. I'm afraid I'm not really any help with which the best courses are. My knowledge in that regard is out of date, and as much as I could recommend somewhere like MMU because it's one of the more established courses, the reality is that I just don't know. It'd be best looking for comments and feedback from those who have studied the courses more recently.

Hi @bernadin_r

Yes, it will be only the ones found on the Bar Standard Boards website as these are the courses approved/accredited. Here at Manchester Met we do offer the BTC in two different routes.

We offer the Bar Training Course and we offer LLM in Legal Practice at the Bar. You can find information here: https://www.mmu.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/course/bar-training-course/ and here: https://www.mmu.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/course/llm-in-legal-practice-at-the-bar

The LLM in Legal Practice at the Bar brings together the essential practical skills and knowledge from our Bar Training Course (BTC) and master-level legal research skills that can help you stand out in a competitive jobs market. Meanwhile, the LLM advanced study element offers the chance for you to deepen your knowledge in a specialist area of the law.

If you have any questions please do let me know and I will be happy to help!
