Have I ruined my academic career with my dissertation?

Last year, I graduated with a low 2.2 and I was predicted to get a 2.1. The tutors had found plagiarism in my dissertation. Basically, I didn't cite my references properly and ended up with a 40/100 on this. It was my fault but I only saw my supervisor once and the subject I had chosen for it wasn't the best idea as I basically did it on impulse. I'm not going to write you a sympathy story here but I did face some challenges at university and I do regret the one I went to.

I was wondering if I could go for a master's degree. I tried to get into a Russell group one but they completely rejected me. Should I just move on with my life now and not go back? I wouldn't make the same mistake again.

Most places prefer a diss for further study and academic malpractice in your 3rd year, and in a research project, is a significant black stain. I'd go do something else.
