The resurrection of Jesus was the most important event of his life

The resurrection of Jesus is a central belief in Christianity, it was when 3 days after his crucifixion he rose from the dead, which opened the door to eternal life and to be reunited with God. I believe that the resurrection of Jesus was the most important event of his life, as without it there would be no Christianity.

Many Christians believe that the resurrection of Jesus is the most important event of his life as it is a significant belief in Christianity. Evidence for this is “he is not here, he has risen”. This is vitally important as without this there would no christian faith. This also provides evidence for Jesus’s divine nature and shows him to be truly the ‘son of God’. The resurrection is also important as it shows God’s omnipotent nature, as only he would have the power to resurrect Jesus. The event of Jesus’s resurrection also demonstrates the power of good vs evil, as Jesus was wrongfully accused of blasphemy and crucified he in the end overcame it by being granted eternal life. This means for many Christians the event of Jesus’ resurrection is highly important, as they believe if they follow the teachings and beliefs of Jesus they similarly will be granted eternal life.

On the other hand Christians could argue that the incarnation of Jesus could be considered the most important event as it was God in the flesh. This is proven in the bible where it says “The word became flesh and made dwelling among us”. This helps Christians understand God’s omnipotent and benevolent nature as he wants to have a relationship with humans and is compassionate as he cares enough to live and die for humans. The incarnation is also a way Jesus understands humans and also their suffering, which for Christians would be important as it shows that they should strive to bear through their pain. Some Christians also argue that there would be no resurrection without the crucifixion, so would consider the crucifixion to be the most important event of Jesus’s life. For christians the crucifixion was also a way that Jesus atoned for their sins, so sins can no longer destroy them so they can ask God for forgiveness so would put it above resurrection.

After assessing both sides, I believe that ultimately resurrection is the most important event in Jesus life as it significantly helped prove him as the son of God and also helped display God’s omnipotent divine nature. By Christians considering resurrection as the most important, it helps them believe that they can also achieve an eternal life with God as long as they follow Jesus’s teachings. However there are other events such as the incarnation which were also important as it helped strengthen humanity’s relationship with God and the resurrection would not have been possible without the crucifixion of Jesus.
